The Connect Kiosk provides an easy, intuitive way for you to check into and out of your upcomin volunteer opportunity when you arrive. Your volunteer hours are calculated automatically, so you don't have to log them on your own. Now that's easy! This article explains how you can:

Note: The Connect Kiosk is not the same thing as self check-in, which you can do on your phone. To learn more about self-check-in, click here. To learn how to view your volunteer hours, click here.

Checking In On Your Own

To check in to a need on your Connect platform, you are not required to have responded to the need previously, but you do need to have a Connect account. The Kiosk's landing page offers two options: to check in with your existing account, or to create a new account.

Note: The time of day appears at the top of each page in the Kiosk.

Creating an Account

If you click Create an Account, you'll be taken to a sign-up page. Once you've signed up, you'll be directed to a need look-up page. You can learn more about finding a need for check-in here.

Click here to view a video on checking in to the kiosk as a new Connect user.

Checking In with Your Account

Already have an account? Click here to view a video on checking in with your existing account.

To check in with your account:

  1. Click I Have an Account. You'll be taken to a page where you can enter your identifying information.
  2. Click to check in with your mobile number, email address, or name.

Note: For your phone number, you are not required to include hyphens. For you name, you can enter first name, last name, or both. Keep in mind that the system cannot identify you if it finds multiple matches. For example, if you enter "Dave" as your name, the system will probably indicate that there are multiple matches and that it needs more information. If the system cannot identify you by number or name, you will be asked to enter an email address.

  3. Enter your information and click Submit. You'll be asked to confirm the match to your account. If you've entered your phone number or uploaded a profile picture, that data will also be displayed.
  4. Click the This is Me button. You'll be taken to the My Upcoming Shifts page, which lists the needs you have responded to.

Note: The kiosk only shows needs that occur within the upcoming week. Also, if you haven't responded to any needs, you'll be taken to a page where you can select a need.

  5. Click Check In for the applicable need. You'll be taken to a brief description of the need, with the option to select a check-in time.

  6. Select Check in now to check in at the time displayed at the top of the Kiosk page. Select Check in at shift start to check in at the scheduled start time for the shift. Select Check in with a custom time to enter a custom date and time.

  7. If you are part of a User Group, you can select your user group from a dropdown that will appear.

  8. (optional) If you brought additional people with you who do not have an account on a Connect platform, you can add them by selecting the Yes button under Plus-one Hours. If you select Yes, you will see additional questions.

  9. Click Check In. You'll see a confirmation message with your information.
  10. Click Done. The screen will return to the Kiosk landing page shown above.

Finding a Need for Check-in

Click here to view a video on finding opportunities in the Check-in Kiosk.

If you've used the Connect Kiosk to sign up for a Connect site, or if you've clicked to View Other Needs, you'll be taken to a page listing all of the upcoming shifts you can check in to. Note that you can filter needs or search by phrase. (Click here for details on searching needs by phrase.)

To check in to a displayed need, click View Details, and then click Check In on the need-information page that is displayed. For details on the check-in options, see Steps 5 through 7 in the Checking In on Your Own section of this article.

Note: If a need has certain requirements (such as a completing a training or signing a waiver), the View Details button will be replaced by a button indicating that you must sign a waiver or submit other qualifications. Click a Sign Waiver button to begin the process of signing a waiver. If the button says Qualification Needed, you may need to log in to your Connect site separately to provide that information.

Checking in with a Team

Click here to view a video on checking in with your team.

If you registered for a need as part of a team (or if a team leader registered you), you can check in with your team. If you arrive at the site of the volunteer opportunity alone and want to check in on your own, you can do that too. Other team members can check in as they arrive.

Note: Team check-in is available only for established teams (those who have already responded to a need as a team) of volunteers who already have a Connect account.

To check in as part of a team:

  1. Follow Steps 1 through 4 as described in the Checking In on Your Own section of this article.
  2. Click Check In for the applicable need. You'll be given the option of checking in alone or checking in with your team.
  3. Click Check In with My Team. You'll be taken to a page displaying the need information and listing all of your team members (including you).

Note: You can make last-minute changes here as needed by adding or deleting team members or editing some elements of need responses.

Note: If you click Check In Alone, you should follow the instructions for Checking In on Your Own.

  4. Mark the boxes of the team members you'll be checking in with. To check in all team members, mark the box at the top of the column.
  5. Select a check-in time from the dropdown.
Select Check in now to check in at the time displayed at the top of the Kiosk page. Select Check in at shift start to check in at the scheduled start time for the shift. Select Check in with a custom time to enter a custom date and time.
  6. If you are part of a User Group, you can select your user group from a dropdown that will appear.

  7. Click Check In. You'll see a confirmation message listing your team members and check-in time.
  8. Click Done to return to the Connect Kiosk landing page for the next volunteer.

Checking Out of a Need

Click here for a video on checking out with the Kiosk.

The process for checking out of a need is identical to checking in, whether you check out individually or as a team. If you don't check out of a need, the set hours for that need will be attributed to your volunteer hours. For example, if you check into a two-hour shift but forget to check out, you'll have 2.00 hours added to your volunteer hours.

Viewing Your Volunteer Hours

To view your volunteer hours:

  1. Log into your Connect platform.
  2. Click to open your profile menu, and select Track Hours.

Hours appear in a table, and you can see which hours have been approved and which are still pending.

You can also view your hours by accessing your volunteer résumé.
